Trading with the Netherlands by Mr. Nils van Dijkman

Our fellow Petter introduced Mr van Dijkman who is a lawyer by profession and is currently at the head of the Swedish chamber of commerce in the Netherlands.

Mr. Dijkman started by giving a brief historical background on the Dutch openness to trading and to commerce in general. He then discussed the way in which business is conducted in The Netherlands and particularly underlined the large amount of discussion needed to try and reach a consensus before a decision is taken and the bluntness of the different parties involved in the decision process.

He then moved on by explaining the role of the Swedish Chamber of Commerce in The Netherlands which aims to promote Swedish business and to inform them of the "Dutch way" before their instalment in Holland.

The speaker than answered a few questions, Ron thanked him on behalf of the Club and Julia presented him with a copy of the "taste for life " cookbook
